In the playoff round robin, a team will receive two points for a win, none for a loss, and one for a tie. There will be no overtime or shootouts in playoff round robin games – a tied game will remain a tied game. At the end of the playoff round robin, teams will be ranked according to their accumulated points.
Championship Games will be played to a win/lose situation. There will be no ties.
If a game is at the end of regulation play, there will be a five-minute sudden-death overtime period. The teams will not switch goals for the sudden-death overtime period. If the game is still tied after the overtime period, the teams shall use the following shoot-out procedure:
Each team will select five (5) players who will alternate taking penalty shots. A toss of the coin will determine which team will take the first shot. If after five (5) players from both teams have completed the procedure the tie still has not been broken, the shoot-out shall be continued with five (5) different players. This procedure shall be repeated until the tie is broken.
If two teams are tied in points at the end of the playoff round robin, and ties need to be broken to determine which team plays for a higher finish, the following tie-breakers will be used – in the following order:
1) Victories in the Round Robin Games (the team with the greater number of wins in the round robin advances to the higher level);
2) Head-to-Head Competition (if two teams are tied and have the same number of wins during the round robin, if one of those teams defeated the other during the round robin, it will advance);
3) Goals Against (the team that has permitted the fewest goals in the round robin games will advance – defensemen and goalies take note!);
4) Regular Season Finish (the team that finished higher in the standings during the regular season will advance), and finally
5) The Coin Toss (the House Commissioner’s personal favorite).
